$2420
For me these paintings are reflections of walking through landscapes. The times when I leave home and work behind, and head to the outdoors to replenish my soul in nature. Walking, travelling, running or just standing in a field or on a hill soaking up the view. It’s these moments when I stop and look out at the land before me that bring fresh perspectives and a sense of renewal.

Rainforest Renewal
Oil on canvas, framed in oak
91.5 x 91.5cm
$2500
Subtropical rainforests have two seasons – wet and dry. When the wet warm rain begins, the forest is rejuvenated with renewed growth. The area in which I live was covered in subtropical rainforest but was drastically cleared for logging and dairy about 100 years ago. Remnants remain, including a small patch at the bottom of my property. Recently when I have been walking there, I have seen at least nine small seedlings of Bangalow Palm popping up, as well as red cedar, sandpaper figs, red Kamala and yellowood. It gives me hope for the future.
When painting “Rainforest Renewal”, I did take a few liberties (“artistic licence”) in that I felt the “pop” of two of my favourite colours - red and orange - balance the painting.

Tranquillity in the Rainforest
Oil on canvas, framed in oak
61 x 122cm
$2500
I painted this rainforest after a walk in the Lamington National Park which inspired me to try to capture the feel of the forest as well as the sounds and smells. Back in my studio, I added more images that I had taken in the Mebbin National Park, close to my home. The painting looks a lot different than the initial sketch I started with as I got involved more and more into the painting.
I’m hoping that the viewer also feels the peace and tranquillity of the cool, damp rainforest in my painting.

In these works I am interested in presenting a concept of duality, between the past and present, what something is and what it appears to be, of feminine strength and sensuality. My paintings further explore this concept by combining the centuries old tradition of figurative painting with current technology. Utilising imagery from photo shoots of a lingerie and swimwear collection I designed while at fashion college, as well as drawing on popular celebrity and advertising photography, I repurpose imagery and subject it to a series of digital processes in order to abstract, dramatize and simplify. I then paint the resulting compositions with heightened colour, bold shapes and a flattened graphic style which continues the figurative narrative in a contemporary way.

Healing a Broken Heart
I began this body of artwork after undergoing emergency life saving open heart surgery in 2022 to replace my mitral valve, fixing a previously unknown heart condition which had deteriorated quickly. Since then, the recovery has been slow, with several complications requiring more hospitalisation. The discovery that another valve developed a severe leak after the surgery, brought disappointment, fear and uncertainty about the future.
However, having already walked a long healing journey of the heart, I was able to draw on the strength and resilience I had gained over the years and remind myself of the treasures I have discovered.
After experiencing tragedy 25 years ago, when my six-year-old son died, I felt as though my heart was shattered, and knew I would never be the same. After a while, to my surprise I discovered it was still possible to find joy and beauty in the smallest of things. These small wonders became treasures for me which I have stored in my heart and continue to do so as a way of healing.
Seeing beauty in a shell on the beach and observing with interest the shapes and textures of it. Watching sunlight filtering through green leaves and hearing a beautiful bird song brought a connection to life around me and was a soothing balm for my aching heart. Opening my eyes and heart to the beauty and kindness in people and feeling gratitude in the simple blessings of life such as a hot shower or food to eat.
Recent studies are now showing that oxytocin, the love hormone, actually causes physical healing in the heart, so I have become more aware of the benefits of love and connection in relation to my own heart condition.
The lion in my painting symbolises bravery, in surviving life and death situations but I also believe it takes courage to keep your heart open and soft when it’s in pain and wants to close and become bitter.
There are plenty of hurting people in the world, in fact not many of us escape pain and suffering at some point, and my hope is that my healing journey will help encourage someone else going through a hard time. To remember that life can still be beautiful in the midst of all of this and filled with joy, even if it’s different to what you imagined it would be. It might even be better.
My inspiration for the gold-filled cracks in the heart paintings come from the Japanese art of Kintsugi. An art form that repairs broken pottery with gold, rendering a new piece that is more exquisite than it was before the break. It literally means to join with gold.
“The story of kintsugi—this style of pottery—may be the most perfect embodiment of all our trauma-shattered lives... Instead of throwing away the broken beloved pottery, we’ll fix it in a way that doesn’t pretend it hasn’t been broken but honours the breaking—and more so, the surviving—by highlighting those repaired seams with gold lacquer. Now the object is functional once again and dignified, not discarded. It’s stronger and even more valuable because of its reinforced, golden scars.” Jay Wolf. (Author of Suffer Strong)

Artist Statement: This painting looks at the "misfits" of society. Nature creates imperfections to allow individuality between things, showcasing diversity, complexity and adaptability. Overabundance, 2024
Earthenware and wood,
H 42cm x W 60cm x D 25cm,
$900
Overabundance delves into the delicate balance essential for sustaining a biodiverse environment. Drawing inspiration from the current debate surrounding housing shortages in the Northern Rivers, this sculpture contemplates the ramifications of land conversion on the region's flora and fauna. Biologists highlight the detrimental impact of overly abundant species on ecosystems, where they can crowd out other species. Through this artwork, I aim to reflect on the impossible dance between the needs of our own species and those of the diverse inhabitants with whom we coexist in this shared habitat.

Awakening Tides
Acrylic with flow medium
92x122x3.5
$1,500
In my exploration of Spring and its intrinsic relationship with water and waves I seek to capture the transformative essence of this season through my fluid art techniques.
In my latest fluid art piece “Awakening Tides” I have captured this essence of a wave in motion, reflecting the transformative energy of the season, an awakening from the winter slumber and the promise of life returning. The swirling blues and vibrant greens mimic the dance of water as it flows and crashes over the canvas symbolising renewal and rebirth. Just as waves reshape the shore, Spring breathes life into the earth, encouraging growth and change. The crest embodies the power of change, reminding us that our lives are constantly evolving. Like a wave breaking and reforming, we too can embrace our rebirth, flowing with the currents of life and emerging anew.
I invite viewers to embrace the divine cycles of rebirth in Spring, reminding us that transformation is a natural part of our journey.

Pearl Waves of Spring
Acrylic with flow medium
92x122x3-5
$1,500
In ”Pearl Waves of Spring“ the crest of the wave gracefully mimics a pearl necklace, each droplet a shimmering orb suspended in a dance of light and motion embodying the elegance of renewal and the promise of growth. This fluid art piece captures the essence of Spring, where each wave symbolizes new beginnings and transformation. The swirling colours reflect natures vitality, reminding us that just as waves ebb and flow, so does life embrace change and rebirth. As the colours merge and dance across the canvas, they invite viewers to embrace their own transformations, celebrating the beauty found in change. This painting serves as a reminder that, like a wave, we are all part of a dynamic cycle of creation
