BRENDA BRYANT - Love Where We Live II
September Morn
2020 has been a hard year for us all. One advantage of "isolation" is being able to experience the beauty of nature even more. I am lucky to live on a small property 30 minutes from Murwillumbah, so have spent many hours walking and exploring, and getting ideas for paintings. I loved working on September Morn as I experimented with more muted colours, and was more than pleased with the resultant tones of brown, pink and yellow. I wanted to capture that time just before dawn when the colours of Nature are at Her best.
Blue Quandong
One of my favourite places to walk and reflect is Couchy Creek Nature Reserve, near Chillingham. I've seen a variety of trees in the nature reserve, but one of my favourite rainforest species is the Blue Quandong. I wanted to make this tree the dominant feature in my artwork, along with the early morning light glow contrasting with the dark, mysterious rainforest.
