Hannah Massey This collection is a continuation of my fascination with ‘contemporary relics’. When I look at old things I feel a sense of a deep past that is quite transcendent. It connects me to the long history of human experiences as well as a sense of mythological realms. In my ceramics I continue to explore surface textures and decorations to build this sense of the timeless and this collection focuses on weathered bronze. The angel motif continues to be important to me as a symbol of lightness, of protection and of hope. ****** Gabriela Soelkner Gabriela’s work is influenced by the idea : “All the different ancestors are still inside us and don’t really die.” Gabriela believes the last frontier is an inner place of deep past and deep time where she can ‘draw’ on the most ancient information to create revelatory work that incorporates her interests in anthropology, geology, archaeology and her search for the stories that reveal our connections to one another and nature. ***** Cheryl Petersen ‘Somehow, in the dark, deep recesses of my brain, I’m feeling like doing these mysterious shapes which somehow remind me of shapes from ancient cultures and abstracting and unifying them to give them a more contemporary look. I don’t think about it while I’m doing it… I just let it flow from my subconscious.’ *****
