This exhibition entitled “I’m Back” is poignant and remarkable. I had a stroke 2 years ago and my biggest fear was that I wouldn’t remember how to be creative again and more importantly - would I still be able to paint? I went through thinking I couldn’t, to maybe if I had paints and canvases around me, it would just happen. It didn’t immediately but after about 12 months I tried - scared that nothing would come.
I was drawn to a book of Kimberley cave and rock paintings which I’d had for years and the wondrous images somehow inspired my rebirth and I have included some of these works in this collection. I look at my previous art pieces and they are radically different - will I ever do that again, who knows I’m just grateful that I can put my view on something that in its original form is majestic.
