This painting is my interpretation of part of the Nightcap National Park in the Northern Rivers area of NSW, which is a lush, ancient rainforest, part of the Gondwana Rainforest of Australia World Heritage Area. It is 8080 hectares of dramatically beautiful rainforest.
I want the viewer to look at my painting and feel the ancient trees, the damp cool air, maybe the sound of insects and scuttling wildlife – and birdsong. Truly a wonderful experience for us lucky people who live in this area. For urban viewers who cannot be there in person, I hope the painting can invoke the joy of walking in an ancient rainforest in their home!
