Couchy Creek - Brenda Bryant
Oil on canvas
Couchy Creek Nature Reserve lies approximately 14 kms west of Murwillumbah, Northern NSW, and lies within the traditional country of the Minjungbal people. The land, water, plants and animals within this type of landscape are central to Aboriginal spirituality and contribute to Aboriginal identity.
I have been influenced very much by many walks in this area, as it is not far from my home. Early mornings are especially beautiful. Also, after rain, Couchy Creek runs wildly and creates small cascades and waterfalls. This is what inspired this painting.
