Fern Creek Walk - Shirley Peters
Fern Creek Walk
Acrylic on canvas
100 x 76
I live and work on Dharug Country, at Mulgoa, in the foothills of the Blue Mountains. The local environment is Hawkesbury sandstone, with ancient trees and grasses that survive drought and floods.
These paintings are views of the rocks and streams behind my studio. They embrace the colours, the atmosphere and the rush of freshly fallen rain. I have also painted scenes from the Blue Mountains, which I visit for plein air painting.
I am pivoting to ‘impressionism’ with this series. Most of the large works have been painted with a palette knife, alla prima. The smaller works are ‘en plein air’.
